A weight lifted

I would just like to say a BIG THANKYOU to everyone on this board and if it wasnt for u I wouldnt have got through today:j.As of 10.30 this morning I am officially BR. At this moment in time I still feel quite numb but im sure it will get better.
I spoke to a clerk at the OR office whilst at court and he said he had no interest in my co- op account and that I could use this still, however my account has a cheque book and £200 overdraft facillity should I give the bank a call and tell them im now bankrupt so they can withdraw the facillities.

Will the Coop agree to open a Cashminder account in its place? Otherwise a basic Barclays account is another option.

Make sure you tell them you are bankrupt though...saves them trying to cross sell you stuff.;)

Been trying to get through to co - op on phone to discuss opening basic account ,I might just try and open a barclays one tommorow as there is a branch in town.Is the Barclays one ok ? I feel a little ashamed having to confess to BR so will they be gentle with me

The trouble with Barclays is that you have to open this account at the branch & it takes them ages to decide if they will open the account. Also their staff talk to you in the banking hall.

....its not very private & people can hear what you are saying.

Sadly thats just my opinion & maybe it has changed. I can only speak from my own experience here. I will not open a Barclays account again until they make their interview spaces more private. Oooops `rant` over

However Co-op is done on the phone....private, their staff are non-judgemental & this is a common request to open an account for a BR person & not seen as `out of the ordinary`. I found the whole process very straightforward & painless.
