I was with the Blackpool OR from March through this month, when my case was transferred to the RTLU (this is an office that takes over, generally when the OR has completed his/her investigations).
I found the staff in the OR's office to be polite and efficient at all times. I had my phone call with the OR's assistant around five working days after my court date and it lasted for about an hour. The conversation was polite and professional and there was nothing judgmental in the examiner's tone or approach. All he wanted was to try to gain an overall understanding of how I had arrived at the situation that I found myself in.
I found the OR very generous and understanding in terms of allowances. I have a son, who lives abroad. The child support order is for a larger amount than would be the case in the UK. He allowed this but obviously wanted to see evidence. I was also given an allowance for travel costs for contact with my son.
My petrol costs were higher than normal because my round trip to work is quite high but this was allowed. There was an allowance for holidays, as well as for general living expenses. The allowances that were provided appeared very reasonable to me.
I was honest with the OR at all times and communicated whenever I had a query (they always responded within 24 hours). My IPA is reasonable and was processed quickly.
Overall therefore, I cannot fault the Blackpool OR's office, or at least the individuals with whom I had dealings. So long as you are completely honest and acknowledge mistakes that you have made, I am sure that everything will be fine. As the OR told me during the first interview, "We are human, you know" so try not to worry too much.
Feel free to post any further questions that you may have or to PM me.0 -
thanks for that reply round the bend, it makes me feel a little better. This is a scary process. I always think if you are honest what is the worst that can happen, but you still worry. I may well pm you in the next day or so, but just wanted to say thanks in the first instance.

Hi,
I am with the Blackpool office too, BR 2nd July and so far everyone I have dealt with has been very polite and professional. They have exempted my car as I need it for work, agreed with my SOA and let my husband buy back their interest in his life insurance for £50. I am still waiting to hear about mine. What worries me more is that I haven't heard yet whether or not I can buy back the Beneficial Interest in my house - I know I am in negative equity but am really anxious to get it bought back as I have a 1 year old and I have lived in this property with my parents who are now dead for over 25 years and can't face the idea of leaving my home. Does anyone know if it is the RTLU who deal with this or the Blackpool OR office?
Apart from the Beneficial Interest, all I can say about the Blackpool office is if you are co-operative with them then they seem to be co-operative with you.0 -
HI poodle
thanks for your reply, how long did it take for them to contact you about your interview and how long after your br was your interview?
Sorry I can't help with your query about your house I am still new to all of this. Hope you get it resolved soon though.
