Knitting needle sizes

Can anyone tell me what size needles would be best to use on 'popcorn eyelash' wool? I want to knit a hot water bottle cover and don't want the tension to be too tight. I've got size 61/2mm and it is quite tight but don't want it to be too loose either... any suggestions? I don't have anything bigger to experiment with and on't want to waste money buying needles that aren't suitable!

Thanks

I googled 'popcorn eyelash wool' and came up with this advert on e-bay. It suggests 7mm-8mm size needles which would tie in with your 61/2mm being too tight.

Have you tried local charity shops for knitting needles? I've bought all mine in them.

I got all mine from ebay - some of them are plastic which aren't great - metal are best, but I also got a needle sizer which is very useful!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

If you're looking for knitting needles in charity shops be aware that many shops don't have them out on display any more. It's because they are dangerous objects and in the unfortunate event of some daft knitter poking themselves or their children hurting themselves playing with mum's needles...well, the charity shop could be held liable for selling dangerous objects without appropriate safety warnings.

Or some such rubbish anyway. Just ask at the counter instead and most charity shops will have a jar of them through the back shop and will sell you them if you look like you could be trusted with these lethal items.

I popped into today and got 4 pairs for a grand total of 40p... great bargain and I stupidly didn't even think about visiting a charity shop before this post! I clearly looked responsible enough to be left in charge of a pair of knitting needles!!!!

    Thanks to everyone who helped
