Any ideas on how to get rid please?
I tried coca cola, as this was said to be a failsafe method, but no joy.
Plumber advised not to put those bloo-loo things in the loo as they corrode the plastic fittings inside the cistern.

Hi bundance,
Cola is not a failsafe method and can in fact discolour the bowl if used regularly or for prolonged periods.
There are some tips and advice on these earlier threads that may help:

I swear by Asda's limescale toilet cleaner, empty the toilet of water - I just plunge it with a loo brush, get as much as you can out then put the cleaner all around the rim, base and bowl, making sure that it covers evenly - leave for a minimum of 2 hours - overnight if the scale is pretty bad. After the alloted time give everything a going over with a loo brush and flush.
I did see a Kim and Aggie remedy of kitchen towel soaked in lemonade (again making sure that you get as much water out as poss) put the soaked kitchen towel all over the toilet and leave for a couple of hours or overnight then use a pumice stone to scrub as much of the limescale off as you can.
A pumice stone is used because it is a soft stone and won't ham the ceramic
HTHBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Flush the toilet. Quickly pour some vinegar into the bowl while the water level is low. Leave it overnight and give it a good scrub in the morning.0

I saw another Kim and Aggie remedy for this just the other night. They used an old bicycle pump to take out all the water from the toilet bowl and put it into a bowl. Then they filled the empty toilet bowl with white vinegar and left it to do it's magic. They poured in enough vinegar to bring the level up to the original water level. Then, once it has been soaking for a very long time just flush and scrub it and it should be all gone.
They said you had to remove the water before adding the vinegar or it would be too diluted.I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
