2 questions, me and my husband are splitting up and I want an interest only mortgage in my name. Where is the best place to start looking. Also my present mortgage is with GMAC, do you think there is any chance they will cut the amount due if I go to another company.

    First things first:

    1) What is the property value?
    2) What is the mortgage amount?
    3) What is your income?
    4) Do you have any other debts?
    5) Do you have a good credit history?

I doubt they would reduce the amount due, I've tried for a client of mine and they said no.

what sort of deposit do you have and are you looking for pure interest only or do you have investments to repay the loan?

finally what is the reason you went with GMAC?

I'm not trying to pry but without this information I wouldn't be able to tell you where to start.
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!
