New job/emergency tax

We went bankrupt on the 7th May. On the 8th June dh found a job and started back at work, we informed the or by e mail and letter but have still not heard anythink back from them.

It took a while to sort out dh's tax code so he paid emergency tax on his last 2 months wages. We have just had his payslip for this months wages and they have given a tax credit of £244 which we assume is the emergency tax he paid. Will this have to be given over to the or?

Thanks.

Thanks for responding, i thought this would be the case! We had to borrow a little off my mum to make up the deficit for the 2 months he was emergency taxed and i was hoping that we could keep it to pay her back but if we can't we can't!

Does any one know how the or would want us to give them this money since we no longer have a chq book? Do they accept bank transfers?

You could try to contact the OR again & see what happens....sometimes such a low ammount they "might" allow...no guarantee though as you signed forms & a tax form during bankruptcy
