My Dad has just come in with a whole whoopsie chicken from Booths (a posh super-market up North) for ...... drum roll please...... 83p!

Do you think its safe to eat it?

    What are the sell by and use by date on it? that should give you some clue

    I'd be inclined to cook it and then freeze it for meals later. I often buy them on their sell by date and do this.

    Well done to your Dad on his bargain. Supermarkets can't legally sell produce after it's use by date. Providing it looks and smells ok, it will be absolutely fine to freeze, cooked or uncooked. Personally I'd go for uncooked and have done many times with reduced price chicken.

    I regularly buy my meat from Booths when its on offer , last week i bought 2 large fresh free range chickens for less than £3 each. We`ve had one but the other one is sitting in the freezer lol
