You have all been really helpful.

Just wanted to say that you can get Decleor from https://www.salonskincare.co.uk and https://www.directcosmetics.co.uk as well as House of frasor and a lot of salons and health spas. There is QVC but I think they are expensive as you have to pay for delivery on each item not the total order and they tend to be more expensive in the first place. There are other sites online too but you have to be careful from overseas as you can get charged extra tax on delivery. https://www.beautyflash.co.uk said they are hoping to get Decleor in the near future tooThanx

I have gone for the trial sizes in the Dr H range.
Decleor is very expensive. I have young children and only work part-time..... I don't have that much spare cash to wave about, but I really do need help with my skin. Its really getting me down and I am embarassed to go out. Even makeup doesn't disguise the redness and flakiness.
I will probably do what you suggested Suki and use the Liz Earle cleanse and polish to remove makeup. In the Dr H range, I have ordered the cleansing cream, the clarifying toner and the normalising day oil - £3 each in the trial sizes.
How long do you think the trial sizes would last, and how soon do you think I will see results?0 -
Good luck cuffie, really sorry that you are suffering so much with your skin, it is very depressing. Hopefully when you start your new routine things will settle down, it could be after effects from the clinique products could take a while to return to normal. You didn't change a birth control pill did you? as I know this can causes massive skin problems.
Please let us know how you get on. Hope things pick up for you soonThanx

Have you considered Virgin Vie? It's great quality but cheaper than most of the beauty counters. Best of all, you could get it all free if you have a party- the consultant will give you advice and a mini facial at home and you get 15% of what your guests buy in "hostess gifts"- they do jewellery, bath stuff, make up etc etc too so if you had 10 guests all spending £30 each you'd get £45 of freebies which can consist of most stuff in their catalogues and would be more than enough for a cleanser toner and moisturiser plus maybe a lippy or 2!
I am nowt to do with Virgin BTW, just an avid fan and not one to resist free stuff0 -

I saw instant results with the cleansing cream - and I have seborrhic dermatitis on my face with makes it sore red and flakey. Im not saying I had instant clear skin straight away but it had calmed down a lot and cleared considerably.Skin was so much brighter and fresher looking that even hubby noticed
I think that kit is about a weeks supply. Now the thing about DR H is the application. Even the toner is applied differently. If you try to use cotton wool as usual it wont last two minutes. You put drops of it on your finger tips(finger tip over bottle top and tip) and press it into the skin - same with the oil. The cleanser is nearly the same application, wet face and hands, a squeeze of paste and a drop of water and press it into the skin using a sort of rolling motion. Dont rub!! I find keeping my hands wet really helps eek out a tube - makes the distribution a lot easier.
It is a lot of kerfuffle to start with but you soon get the hang of it
The other thing you may want to look at is if you use make up - foundation etc - changing that. So many foundations have me itching like crazy and breaking me out in spots or causing redness. I now use a mineral range which is just so gentle on my skin. I dont have to cake it on to cover problem areas and I dont feel like Im wearing a "mask" all day. I think that its helped in the general condition of my skin0 -

I know about QVC pricesBut I only reccomended them this time because of the 30 day money back gaurentee. OP could have ordered it, used it for the month and then sent the whole lot back for a refund and used the money to buy anything she decided did suit elsewhere a lot cheaper
Its a handy way of trying a new range without the expense which is why QVC P+P prices are high - they know that women are doing it and hell they even encourage you to

I agree about QVC, and I was tempted to try the whole range and send it back, but it would have added up on p&p as you don't get that refunded. Also, if I'd have fallen in love with the range I'd have to keep buying it anyway!
I tried to work out how much I would be spending if it was a skin care regime I would be using all the time - not just trying it. It just seemed that Decleor worked out more expensive if I kept on using it. That's why I was tempted to go back to Liz Earle as her prices are pretty reasonable if you are looking at "naturally active skincare".
My skin looks terrible this morning (I think it knows I have been talking about it!!!). Thats what my doctor diagnosed me with - seborrhic dermatitis...this cream she prescribed is doing nothing, and she also gave me 2 months supply of tablets. I don't want to be popping pills!! I haven't taken the tablets which I know probably hasn't helped.
Thanks for everyone's help. I wish I didn't really have to watch the pennies - that really is a factor in what I am choosing. I have tried supermarket brands. I quite liked the smell and application of the Body Shop one but its just not helping my skin. I'll try the Dr H and see what happens. xx0 -
Same diagnosis as me then
Nothing that a GP can prescribe other then steriods works on it. I can keep it under control but it gets worse at times of stress. It actually starts in the hair line- I have a patch just behind my ear right now. I find the only way to keep it under control is to use head and shoulders and Nizirol Shampoo when its really bad (Nizirol is really expensive so I use it about once or twice a month when I have a severe flare up). Some people are getting good results with apple cider vinegar but to be honest its a lot of kerfuffle and skin gets a lot worse before it gets better - and Im too vainYeast products are also thought to make it worse
Like you I have to watch the pennies - I dont work so have no income but I wont be without my Liz Earle nor my Dr H cleansing cream.I reckon on about £10 a month on those. If I do run out of Dr H my skin really suffers.Ylang Ylang I only buy if I can find it going really cheap on Ebay. The make up I use is expensive for the initial outlay but once bought a foundation lasts around a year or more and as for blusher Im using the same one I bought nearly three years agoIts mineral so it never goes off.
Hope you get good results with Dr H, let us know0 -
I think you need to go as natural as possible. In the States there's a big thing about parabens. apparently they are aritifical and lots of moisturisers have them and they're not supposed to be good for you. Dr. H is very good but if it's too expensive you could maybe try stuff from a health food store as it will be more natural.
One other thing, have you tried taking Zinc supplements? I developed excema on my face in my early 30s and all the doctor gave me were steriod creams. I wasn't happy about putting steroids on my face so I looked into other remedies and tried zinc. I take one a day and haven't had a problem since.0
