Will I, Will I not?

Note clever play on words in title:rolleyes:

Anyway, I know My mum and dad have drawn up their will. I would say it's safe to assume that I will feature in it in some way. (god, doesn't that sound morbid)

I note there is a question in SOA that asks whether you are named in any will. I don't really want to ask my Mum this question, but don't want to withold information from OR either?

What did others do in this situation?

Tough call......depends really morbid? maybe but you need to think of everything...how old are they?

In my situation? I told my parents & they were more than happy to rearrange things till after my bankruptcy had passed...now though dont get anything as it's now being rearranged to give to my future son/daughter........oohhh that sounded weird

  • Personally I wouldn't worry too much. They can't expect you to have access to that kind of info for definite- as its someone else's private business.

Think they ask it because if you are named in that will and the person dies while you are bankrupt, the money you inherit goes straight towards paying off your debtors. Hope that helps x

I just know that my Mum will worry about my inheritance if I have to have this conversation with her. I don't want to give her any worry, she has been so good to me throughout all of this.

Oh yes, once you're a daddy, the babies are the new kids on the block!

Mum is 60, Dad is 70. Both as fit as fleas taking age into account.

  • personally I would just advise my parents to change their will just in case the worse happens. From their point of view I would imagine that they wouldn't want to see their hard-earned inheritance being taken to pay off a bankruptcy, rather than being beneficial to their kids. They can always change it again at a later date.

If you are meaning section 3 quesion 18 under assets "Any property or sums due to you under a will"

I read it as "being named in a will" that was in the process of materialising!. In other words money or property owed to you at the time of bc from a will.

Although i was in my fathers will i answerd no to this question.

  • i got confused with this question aswell and as dalip said it basicly means if the person has already passed and you are
    waiting for the inheritance.

NO. How they (OR) going to know and in some cases how are you going to know. Anyway I answered No

I answered NO as well. I have no idea if I'm in anyone's will (hope so though!) and wouldn't dare to ask.
