I Wanna Study/Home Office Furniture

Hi

I work from home quite a bit and we have decided that since we are lucky to have the space we will make one of our bedrooms into a proper study.

I wanted to do the job properly as currently we have Ikea Billy bookcases and an old MFI desk and drawer unit cobbled together in the 2nd bedroom which all looks a bit cobbled together and doesn't really work ergonomically.

I use a laptop and have two printers (laser/inkjet) and am looking to use a port replicator for my laptop and use a flatscreen and standard keyboard. I also need space for hanging A4 files and a bookcase of some description.

I've taken a look at https://www.furnitureatwork.co.uk and they have some nice items on there (although the pics are a bit too small to tell and I am a bit of a touchy feely person when it comes to buying things like this - although I'm a tart and tend to then go and find the same thing cheaper on the web!!)

Anyway, my questions for all of you are: -
  • Do you know of a good home office furniture supplier/showroom in the Leeds area (or a reasonable travel from here)?
  • Any hints and tips on buying if you've done this yourself?
  • Any learnings and "if onlys"/pitfalls from your experiences ?

At the minute I'm not looking at the budget too closely as I would rather find something I like that fits the bill and then see what the cost will be and start worrying about the budget then!

Appreciate your help on this one

Thanks
CM

Me too I am only onto the plastering stage of the room. They have some loverly office furniture in MFI if you have one near to you. You can still get those old cheap desks etc but the have some really nice office sets in oak with matching book shelves etc. They can be open shelves or closed with smoked/etched glass. MFI have really changed they do loverly bathrooms too.

  • We too are working off MFI furniture. It was bought about 5 years ago, and it still looks as new. It is very sturdy, has taken a lot of stuff over the years.

I would take a look at what they have to offer.

Thanks both, I am lucky to have an MFI literally 5 minutes away and hadn't even thought of them so will call in and take a look.

    Happy plastering Lizzy !!

    Thanks again
