Why don't you try a book called the Kitchen Revolution, where they produce a weekly menu for a year using seasonal ingredients. This aims to do 7 meals a week, reduce waste and save time.
  • I think I'll have a go at the ideas on here before I buy a book, not only am I trying to cook better I'm trying to pay off debts at a rate of knots, I'd be in trouble with the DFW's if I went and spent money! ;)

I coudn't resist having a look at the links you sent me rosieben, have printed out a recipe for banna cake (my favourite) and tinkerbells mum I love the student recepies link, thats right up my street skill wise, it sounds expensive but I'd love to try the mozzerella stuffed chiken, the recepie calls for a lloyd grossman tomato sauce :eek::eek::eek: I shall be making my own sauce thankyou very much Mr Grossman! :T

The love food hate waste one is good too really user friendly and quick to use, I wont be able to tear myself away from the internet now!

I am proud to announce that this evening I've had a delicious dinner thanks to all your inspiration, tin of chopped tomatos which have been in the cupboard for ages months two peppers I found at the bottom of my fridge, an onion, lots of garlic some mixed spice for flavour, all mixed up with some pasta and more than enough for lunch tommorow and probably dinner tommorow :D I'm feeling very pleased with myself indeed!

Definitely join your local library - very DFW and O/S

All those free books, cds, dvds, newspapers etc not to mention the notice board and the fact that the heating is on all day!!! ;)

You can get books on anything, and if your local branch doesn't have what you want then you can have it sent from another!

Another fab and delicious recipe to use more of the rubber chicken is chicken and sweetcorn soup.

A couple of chopped spring onions, tin of sweetcorn (including the 'juice'), pieces of chicken, soy sauce all simmered in a pan. You can add a bit of cornflour to thicken it if you like too.
  • I'll definately look into joining library after the weekend. I love to read, have a bookshelf packed to breaking point with books that I'm going to have to part with in order to raise more money for the DFW pot!

I cant wait until sunday to do my chicken for the week, there are 3 of us eating on Sunday, and on Monday two of us will be eating from the leftovers, the rest of the week it will just be me. What size chicken should I be getting? Also, this is going to sound stupid, but how much should I be paying for an average chicken? I will more than likely get it from the butchers (do butchers sell chicken?) and I'll be getting my veg from the market.

Chicken and sweetcorn sounds good for when I make chow mein with said leftover chicken, I could have a chinese themed night, who'd have thought, all these possibilities from a single chicken! :rotfl: I wish I had space to keep them, then I'd have eggs too... I'd never go hungry again!
  • Oh I forgot to say, whilst I've been over here I've been taken in by the flylady thread, so much so that I've printed the list and will be trying it at home on my own this week! At this rate I'll be a domestic godess in no time :rotfl:
