I want to get a portable DVD player - can someone just tell me - are the ones you get for the car different to portable? or can you have a car one that works elsewhere?0

FYI, it's quite probable that these four-hundred and eighty-six 'Grade A' machines currently in stock at ebuyer are the 'fixed' units resulting from an earler mass product recall. Which doesn't imply that they were even ever sold in shops, just that they were recalled for unspecified 'factory reconditioning' (which entailed replacing the rechargeable battery pack from what I can make out).

The dvd player mentioned will work in the car YES. Essentially there is no difference, between a car dvd and a "PORTABLE DVD"Shez wrote:I want to get a portable DVD player - can someone just tell me - are the ones you get for the car different to portable? or can you have a car one that works elsewhere?
The car dvd may have a 12v cig power adaptor included, thats all really.0 -
haveagoade - thanks very much for that.0

do they still have a guarantee?0

As a matter of intrest the 7"Warfedale one I have from argos plays MP3's recorded onto cdrw's . It plays dvd+rw from a dvd recorder as well, oh and jpeg's as well.
Sometimes its hit and miss whether they do or not, mine did not mention the mp3's or dvd+rw but it plays them anyway!0 -

Not strictly true - if you have a look at most descriptions a 'Car DVD' tends to be plug in only (but not exclusively) where as 'portable DVD' tend to have a built in rechargeable battery (again not exclusively).
So just be aware and make sure you are buying the type you want. All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -

You said "Essentially there is no difference..."
Essentially there is - One type is likely to have a rechargeable battery and one isn't.
'Essentially' does not translate as 'loosely speaking'.All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0
