Not sure how long this will be available on Ch 4/4OD, and only 3 episodes made..I wanted more.
I found thenm all fascinating...and also, I confess, found myself judging the rather swishy lifestyles of some of the participants ...the shame
as I don't like to judge.
Then the crunch came, turnover dropped, banks wouldn't up the lending, so they were struggling to find a way through it.
For me, episode 2 was the winner about the 5th generation bloke with the chair factory ....deff had some tragedy behing the scenes. Photos in the background, the way he lived (modestly) in a tiny part of his big inherited house with just his son and the fact that the bank insisted he got a manger in F/T, suggested that to me.
Also, Gerry never once critised him for not being hands on.
The manager was all talk and had no idea his ineptitude was sending the company down the pan,...just took his salary and talked the talk...it showed up so much how the doing is so different to just talking about it.
Anway, all 3 episodes taught me some new things so not wasted telly time.
Still not as good as the John Harvey-Jones ones during the late 80's though.
I am sans PC until Fri pm (and this is borrowed for a furtive hour) but would love to gossip about it at some point if anyone watches them.

I just looked at the date of the thread...I think I am running about 8 weeks behind everyone else.
We must sort some telly reception at some point. ...except, got no actual telly now as son took it away.
And, now I frequent here, there seems to be a little shame in actually buying a telly...feels like a really guilty thing to do....even though we could afford a cheapy one.:o0 -
My tv is a handme down from parents. The last one only got two and a half channels and those with snow and fuzz and white noise. I didn't mind it at all. free view is quite exciting by comparison though and I am enjoying digital radio a lot.0
