PO Boxes

Hi everyone

Does anyone have experience in renting a PO Box from a business other than Royal Mail?

I need a way of collecting my post as we don't have a letter box / post slot in the door.

When I approached Royal Mail, it seemed I'd need to provide proof of my address via a utility bill. I don't have this as our bills are paid by the property management company.

What other options do I have? I'm based in South London (Clapham).

Thanks in advance!

To apply for a PO Box®, you'll need to show us proof of address (originals, and less than three months old). This can be one of the following:

    Bank or building society statement

Phone bill for a landline only

Utility bill (gas, electricity or water)

    Council tax bill

Royal Mail Account number for an existing service

Don't have any of these. I do have a lease agreement though! Doesn't look like it'll be sufficent.

You can only rent a PO Box® at the Royal Mail delivery office that delivers mail to the address stated on the application form. <- What does this mean?

Your PO Box® is linked to your street address (on your application form). If it changes, so will your PO Box® details. If you plan to move from the delivery office area where the box is held, you’ll need to give one month’s notice of the change, and your box will be cancelled. You’ll need to re-apply for a new one, using your new address. See our Terms and Conditions available to download from our Document <- Does this mean if you move residential house you have to move PO Box locations and PO Box number. And pay again?

Are PO Boxes at the post offices or only at the mail sorting centres?

There are loads of other options. I used a company that used to forward the mail to me, but it turned out they missed loads.

You can rent a mail box from loads of places, corner shops etc or more professional places http://www.mbe.co.uk/ - i used to live in Battersea and there are loads around that area.

Royal Mail PO boxes tend to be only in the main sorting centres.
