Quotation search for a personal loan

Which financial institutions offer a quotation search for an Personal loan application before doing an actual search? Recently read an article regarding this, but forgot where it was.

Moneysupermarket.com have something called a 'smart loan search' that will give you an indication of who might lend to you and what rate without doing a detailed application.

However, I don't think there is anything out there that will tell you how much you can borrow or guarantee that you won't be declined when a detailed application is made.

See from your tag that you are looking to buy a home. Remember that your personal loan will reduce the amount you can borrow.

Oh no, not really looking for myself but for a friend. However, this question was just to improve my knowledge on the subject rather than using it straight away. I got this article, check the link.
