thank you all for you rather ill informed comments. For the record she was the one who asked if there was someway she could give me my inheritance now. Having consulted with other family members we all decided that taking an equity loan was not suitable as we did not want a bank owning part of her house and so doing something between us was the best way forward. I would also point out that as a bankrupt i would probably not recieve any of it anyway, i see little difference with dealing with someones estate (whilst they are alive) to avoid tax and to avoid the money going to creditors.
  • What a sick person. Your mum is ill or old and you want to jump in and get your share now because shes on her way out and you want to bail yourself out for being a complete muppet with money.
i hope she doesnt leave you a penny.
you should be ashamed of yourself even thinking like that.
what happens if she gets so frail that she needs constant care and has to sell the house to pay for it? Are you going to stick a pillow over her face so you keep your inherintance? You sound like the type of person who would.

Ill informed and offensive. You have a very apt profile name

In Spain (and I believe also in France) you are not allowed to disinherit your children.

I know in France that you HAVE to have your estate go to your children because my parent's house in France goes to me (even though I can't think of a worse gift than a run down shack!)
I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!

that is amazing--what if an English couple decided to leave part of their estate in France to one child and not another??

off topic I know but I find this hard to understand:cool:

In Spain a foreigner can leave their money to whoever they like, but Spaniards are not allowed to disinherit their children.
