Everyday Loans - Help Please
My son took out a loan with the above company in March 08 for £2k the repayments were £48 per week. In March 09 he lost his job and was unable to afford the £48 per week. He contacted the company and let them know his position and made an offer of £10 per week which he implemented and has stuck to. He has just recently received his annual statement and has noticed that on 28th May 08 they added a reschedule fee of £100 and overdue payment fees of £25. on the front of the statement it states that the interest rate is 51.6% and is calculated on the daily balance outstanding and applied monthly and that the duration of the agreement is 134 mths (11years)!! According to their calculations total future payments includng future interest under the current repayment schedule and term means that he will repay £5040!!
He has asked them to freeze the interest while he is unemployed which they refused to do!!
surely this can't be right, given that he notified them of his situation as soon as he was made unemployed.
Can anybody advise me on a way to help him fight the o/d chgs, the reschedule fee and the extortionate interest rates that they won't freeze.
Thank you
