Bargains at the 99p shop

Some of these type of shops are awful ..... pencils that don't write, cling film that clings so much you can't unwrap it and that horrible plastic smell.
However, today I went to a "99p shop" and got some great bargains. Massive bottle of Elvive shampoo which I paid well over £3 for at our local chemists, 4 good quality kitchen rolls, some Bill Oddy birdfood, some Aloe Vera non-bio washing liquid and my clothes smell superb now!:j Some Oust room freshener and Sally Harding foot cream which is excellent.
If I time it right next month I could probably save a lot on things whuch I pay easily double for at local shops and supermarkets.

I agree - it all depends on what they have in stock when you visit.
You do need to keep an eye on 'sell by/use by dates' if you're buying foodstuffs.
I've had great bargains on quite a few occasions

We recently had a Poundland open in our shopping centre. We have tons of the same type of shop but when you get inside them not much really is a pound it just to get you in i think.
However i love Poundland, must admit ive been a bit wary of them in the past but i cant stay away now! I tend to buy granulated sugar which they sell 1.5kg of, baby stuff, cleaning stuff, canned food, and they do 2 litres of milk for £1 too. Plus tons of other stuff id normally pay a lot for in the shops. They do seem to change lines frequently but always seem to have the staples in like the sugar, teabags etc. They even sell baby clothes!
Love the place, only wish they sold nappies!0 -
I go to both poundland and 99p stores and I find the kitchen roll in poundland to be really good.I have also bought:
Clearasil blackhead face wash
Oxy pads
Sugar
All varieties of stardrops
Microfibre cloths
Mess head Shampoo and Conditioner
Rimmel Make up
Embellishments for card making and crafts
Coffee
Loreal Hair wax, Hairspray and Gel
Batteries
Car cleaning stuff
UHU Glue, Super Glue multi packs, Heavy duty mounting tape, WD40
I have even had Ariel stain remover from there
I could go on and on. I can't walk past without a little mooch round
I find the trick is if you see something buy it in bulk because you never know if it is going to be there the next time you go in.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I spotted Gillette APD for men in Poundland the other day, told OH who got some but is now convinved it smells different and is knock off. Honestly, I don't give a fig - it's more than twice the price in Tesco, so he'll just have to put up with it !0
