don't know where else too put this so please move it if ive posted in the wrong place.

my husband and I recently bought a house and for the past three months we have been receiving mail that wasn't in our name which we had just been putting back into post box with "not known at this address" on it. (there has been three different names that we dont recognise so far)

We knew the name of the people who loved the before us and it wasn't for them either.

However there was one in particular that has been getting more and more frequent so i opened it in order to find out who i could speak to to put a stop to it and its a final offer immediate action required letter from MERITFORCE DOOR STEP COLLECTION AGENTS  with regards to a tessera portfolio management ltd debt of £8898.79!!

We know nothing of this and Im now really worried that not only will this affect us as it is our address on the letter but they might come knocking on our door looking the person named on the letters.

what do i do? should i contact them and explain that we don't know anything about it.

really worried about it being a black mark against our address does that effect us for future credit if we ever needed it?

sorry for all the questions just very anxious about this is all.

K

Don't worry about it, keep sending post back unopened, marked as not at this address.

    Cheers, Des.

addresses are no longer blacklisted, only people.

however you might want to get copies of your credit files just in case.

thanks for your replies. just panicked when i seen it.
i might just do that incase. just would rather try and fix it now than finding a big problem later on down the line.

    cheers
