Early Discharge

Hi I have a question does getting the letter regarding early discharge mean they have pretty much decided it is over with your case?

I have been sent the letter, but I have also read about loads of people on here getting the paper work but not receiving it?

Would they still give you an early discharge if you didn't send back the papers?

Thanks for your replys in advance :)

I thought it stated on the letter that if you did not return the form within 14 days you will not be considered for early discharge?
Yes it does mean they have more or less finished with you but the reason many do not get ED even after filling in the forms is that the ED process is bottom of the list of priorities as far as the insolvency service is concerned. A lot depends on how busy your particular office is and if they have time to see the ED process through to the end. Dx

Do you have to have a letter telling you they are considering you for ed or will the or sometimes just do it without telling you?

Sometimes it can happen where the OR wont write to inform you

in that case just keep checking the insolvency database online & see if your status changes

I think we received a letter two weeks after getting ED. I had no letters before hand so Id guess there were no set rules

Fill in the forms and then forget about it, if it happens - great, if not, life goes on!

besides....a few months ago there was talk of the insolvency service scrapping the ED process as it takes up too much time & costs the service too much

  • Make sure you fill out the forms and send them back.My form went to my old address, when i eventually got them it was to late. When i called the OR and explained that they had my new address they denied it and told me it was to late now for early discharge as the forms need to be returned within 14 days.We had to wait the year out.
