Oh dear, the HPC lot are on their way...

I smell election propaganda in the air with "Britain is out of recession" government quote.
Captain Gordon Brown has saved the world and the UK again (joke).
Flash (in the pan) Gordon is talking up everything and selling us down the river purely for his megalomania and career ...is it true that the national debt stands at £33,000 for every person in Britain? .......and no that isn't the benefits bill either.
Unemployment is rising at a much faster rate than seen ever before; similar with businesses in difficulty and failing... and for anyone to get a mortgage for say around £125,000 for 25 years it would require payments of some £800 per month. and that's at 6% (one of the lowest interest rates ever)
*£125,000 (that is lower than the average house price in and at the bottom end for buying)
Now most people (modal average figure) I contend don't earn near enough to have this spare cash to buy somewhere starting off as a first time buyer/s so it will be a question of either already owning somewhere and borrowing another £25k to £50k to buy somewhere bigger or buying somewhere smaller and banking the surplus.. except that the savings rates are so low that the real inflation rate will erode it value anyway. * I mean by real inflation rate the actual rate and not Flash Gordons 0% one ...just look your supermarket prices receipts over the 18 months and tell me again that prices are falling (another joke).
Before someone else says something about people renting at £800 a month ...yes but a lot these will get housing benefit to offset this against their wage.
So once again who is going to be buying properties? Only people gambling (badly) that the prices will rise and older people downgrading for cash or trying to buy a foreign place to spend half the year in. There plenty of sellers ... but they're holding their prices or letting out the properties ... - see my earlier point also about housing benefit ( yes your money could be paying poorer families to rent from these Nuvo landlords and paying for their overpriced mortgage/house-prices )
I think the house prices have a long way to fall yet.
It all amounts PR for a megalomaniac not fit to lick the boots of a single serviceman, fireman, any person prepared to risk their life to help others.
At the last count recently some 206 British service personnel have been killed in Afghanistan in a bid to supposedly bring democracy to the country, yet the voting figures show that more British soldiers were killed than people able to vote.
How many gallant soldiers have to be sacrificed to save the fortune of the President Bush of the UK ... (the worst British prime minister in history)
Gordon Brown makes James Callaghan look like a master statesmen, his conceit even exceeds that of Margaret Thatcher. I much as I despise Maggie Thatcher's policies and methods I have to concede she was one very talented politician. Mind you, that also could be said of Adolf Hitler.
Flash Gordon Brown on the other hand is just a mediocre MP that through sheer bloody mindedness has manoeuvred himself into the top job by pushing aside and usurping the weak willed but infinitely more talented other contenders.
Don't be fooled into thinking that the economy is back to normal ... it isn't and won't be until they get the banks sorted out which could be some time.0 -
By the way I do hope Gordon Brown and his minions read the above!0

I'm pleased to say that house prices in this area, Liphook, are slowly on the increase, and have increased for each of the past 3 months. Houses are selling! The local papers are saying this is set to improve with as much as a 48% increase over the next 5 years due to the completion of the 'Hindhead tunnel' in 2011. This will reduce the 18 mile journey time to Guildford and the M25 by 20 mins at peak times!
(Anyone want to buy a gorgeous, 4-bed detached house? ;-) )0 -
I just can't believe the vote % of this pole, does anyone who voted really understand what has happened and is soon to happen even more so ? no change ? nope, 2% increase ? nope, 10% decrease? nope, if you were to really understand then the % would be closer to a decrease of 30/40%, Watch the Bull Run, good for some yet not for many more0

Nothing is going to happen until after the next election. Then we are fked. If labour get in again, it is going to be armageddon. The crash is over for now, but will resume again mid-late next year.0

Great news, I mean who cares that your kids will never be able to afford a place of their own to raise a family as long as greedy selfish little scumbags like you get rich off their backs so you can afford lots more pies to stick in your fat greedy mouth.0 -

I too thought nothing was going to happen till Spring but now think by the end of the year if not sooner yr see a big change in confidence that even printing worthless paper can't stop0 -

Clearly didn't do a very good job in promoting democracy then, did they? :rolleyes:0 -

Surprise, surprise.
Oh well, that expains all the doom and gloom.
They're just annoyed because their argument "had no veracity"...;)
Prices up almost 9% since February now, and whilst I have no doubt we'll see some small falls over winter (like in most years), the worst is certainly behind us now.
With 250,000 households being created a year, and only 80,000 houses being built this year, prices will be heading firmly upwards for a long time to come.
Unemployment has been rising every month for the last 6 months, and so have house prices, mortgage approvals, and lending for new purchases. Rates are now forecast to stay low for years too. Theres just nothing left in the discredited hpc textbook. Crash over.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
-- President John F. Kennedy”0
