Standard life: windfall who would get this?

I have a pension through Standard Life and i read that there is a windfall for shareholders. How does one know whether one is shareholder or not? does having a pension with them count as a shareholder. Sorry if it is a silly question but i have found in the past that with companies such as Coventry bank they seem to get me to be involved in voting for directors etc when all is a savings account with them! If we cant get anything then maybe this would help others apparently there are quite a few people still to claim their windfall and i think it is about £1700. hope helps someone here!

Its a windfall for members, not shareholders. SL have no shareholders yet.
If you are invested in the with profits fund (not including Millenium WP fund IIRC), then you are a member. If you are invested in unit linked funds, then you are not a member. If you are in unit linked funds, then dont feel to upset as you have probably made more in returns than those in the with profits funds anyway, even with their likely payout.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Investors in the (stakeholder) Millenium WP fund are usually members and eligible for a windfall.

I couldnt remember if the millenium one had the waiver of demutualisation benefit on it or not. Hence the IIRC.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Oh I see. The waiver got dropped of course, as usual - they always do it to bring in the vote
