RMA Resolve - AMEX

Sorry need some advice AGAIN!! My husband has had a letter from RMA Resolve. He missed one payment with AMEX but I sent over two "nominal" payments one for July & one for August. In the letter I advised them that they were to be split and that we were having Financial difficulty and that we were talking to CCCS. It appears the letter to AMEX and the Sept Statement have crossed in the post. And as of yet AMEX have not cashed the cheque.
We now have a letter from RMA Resolve saying that AMEX have informed them of our financial difficulty. They are asking us to call them to set up a DMP with them - but obviously we are going into one with CCCS. I have seen all sort of horror stories with RMA Resolve and wondered if anyone could advise on the best course of action. I am about to send out a nominal payment to AMEX as the statment is due on the 4th Sept. Should I send it to AMEX or to RMA Resolve??
Thanks again for all of the advice!

Hi
I missed one payment to Amex and informed them of my financial difficulties and DMP by letter, within a week they had passed the debt to RMA Resolve, they seem to be fast movers.
I replied to RMA Resolve by letter stating that I was on A DMP with CCCS and that my payments would come directly from them. Three months in and I haven't heard a peep from RMA.
I just hope that they have frozen the interest otherwise my debt will be much bigger now.
Sorry to hijack your thread but does anyone have any experience with RMA/Amex ie do they freeze interest or does it continue.
Thanks and good luckDMP mutual support thread member:3270 -
Don't worry about hijacking the thread - sounds like we both need some advice on this company. I might phone cccs to see if they know!0

I have a debt with these, like you said, my account got passed to them from Amex when I couldnt make my payments, I had to then do and I&E with them and pay them token payments each month. I have just had an annual review and had to resend stuff then didnt hear from them again.
I then got a letter last week offering me 50% off to settle, shame I havent got it.....
I havent really had any problems with them tbh0 -

American Express were very quick to default my account and pass it to RMA Resolve when I started my DMP at the beginning of 2008.
All has gone OK - they get their payment via CCCS - and I've heard very little from them ... which is good and bad!
Amex advised me that RMA Resolve would now be dealing with my account, and I also received a letter from RMA Resolve at the same time confirming this, and giving me my reference number. Since then, I've had just two letters from RMA Resolve, offering me the opportunity of a 'full and final'.
I don't receive statements confirming my payments - RMA Resolve advised me that they're not set up to do this ... but did confirm over the phone that they'd received my payments and that no interest/fees were being added.
As the balance on the two full-and-final letters did not tally with my records (given their assurance that no interest had been added), I asked them (in writing) on several occasions for a statement showing all transactions on the account since Amex passed it to them. I got no response so sent a SAR request (details in this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1770543).
It appears that interest or some sort of charge was actually added to my account almost every month up until about four or five months ago. I'm currently going through the SAR information, matching the transactions against notes made by Amex and RMA Resolve, and all this against my own records of what has happened so far. I shall then be challenging RMA Resolve and Amex over any inconsistencies, etc. I'll be updating the above thread with what I do - and what happens next!
So on the one hand, I've had no problem with RMA Resolve - they (and Amex) instantly accepted my DMP payment with the CCCS and I've had no hassle from them for increased payments. But on the other hand, trying to get any useful and important information from RMA Resolve in writing is like getting blood out of a stone - and it would seemed they told a little white lie about interest being added.
Good luck!Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.
Dealt with my debt through a Step Change (CCCS) DMP.
