Thanks everyone for replies, as least I feel I am not alone in this problem. Somehow knowing I am not the only one makes it seem a bit easier. Will start to work my budgets out more carefully, so I don't overspend in the first few days after pay day and end up with only pennies in the week before pay day!!

flis21, I'm exactly like you. As soon as payday hits I would be on the net, minimum payments on the CC, ordering this and that. I'd make sure there was enough cash to pay the loans, etc, and pretty much blow through the rest by the middle of the month. The rest of the month I would use up the credit card to its max again and end up having to borrow from my mother :-(

I had to change after getting married, buying a house and having a daughter, its still hard. I'm on a DMP with CCCS. I'm not perfect however. What I did was to follow the CCCS's advice and get a basic bank account, one without any visa solo or switch abilities. I'm now only restricted to taking cash out of the cash point. But that comes with its own problems for me. Instead of buying stuff off the net, I found out that in the last 2 weeks I withdrew around £400 in cash for stuff, petrol, takeaways, things for the wife and baby. A budget is really important, I say this, and I don't even have one for myself so thats what I'm working on this month.

So I don't know how much help this post has been, but as you can see from the other replies, you're not alone. Just take each day as it comes. You might get the compulsion to buy things one day. If you really don't need it, tell yourself you'll buy it the next day. Sleep on it, and you'll see that if you can get through one day without buying your dvds you can get through another, and another and another. But its tough, but worth it. Please keep trying.

I used to have the same problem but I no longer feel like that. Pay day is just another day and the money just a set of figures which is earmarked to go different ways, (none of it to me). Its depressing but im not tempted to spend it because I know its not my money.

I would defiantly say I have suffered from this problem, I used to have a much higher value for money when I was getting paid £17 a week for doing a paper round every single morning, £4 a week for washing 2 neighbours cars and £1 a week pocket money.
Now I’m taking home around £2500 a month with no real out goings apart from a couple of hundred towards the rent to my parents, and because I get paid on a monthly basis I think of anything costing up to around my months wage as being an average purchase and nothing to worry about. I’m sure if I got paid daily or weekly I would have a totally different outlook. I haven’t let myself get into any serious debt yet, but I’m sure if I take my eye off the ball its going to happen.

easy way to stop that chriz is give yourself a pocket money allowance to blow and put the rest in savings :-)

    I've been Money Tipped!
hi i am the same oh going bankrupt help me calm down i am a better now as i have changed my outlook to money and i follow three simple rules before i buy anything 1 have i paid the bills 2 do i realy want or need it 3 never buy the same day i see it i wait untill the next day if im still thinking about it i will buy it but usally the moments passed and i forget about it
also when i get paid i buget for every thing bills food petrol and then whats left i put into weekly amounts then i know what money i have spare and to be honest i dont realy buy that much now and most importantly i dont feel deprived as i know if i realy wanted it i could have it
also i have no cc loans or overdraft mainly to oh bankruptcy so im less eger to spend on rubbish as i know theres no credit there to bail me out i think a lot of my spending is dowm to bordem if you spilt up your money the payday fever goses as you always have money and know when your getting more

its strange to do at first but stick with ityou will calm down and by posting on here you have allready taken steps to slove your problem i use to waste hundres of pounds on food in a month but know im spending about 250/300 and i havent noitced much differance in my shopping just the bills cheeper
now i only take my debit card out with me if i know i need it and never carry it just in case as thats what i used to do mainly with credit cards and we ended up over 40.0000 in debt thanks to oh bankrupty it now 6.700 more manable
try and think of other things to do other mse have given you some really good ideas but know your not alone and dont beat your self up about it use going bankrupt as a fresh start and dont worry its not as scarry as people think you wont be able to go to mad its surprising how much less you spend when its your money and not cc
and if you realy have to spend try ebay you can get just about anything on there and at a good price
a few people on here do spending dairys so you could start one of those might help you keep focused but rember its not a bad thing to treat your self just make sure it with your money and no one elses good luck with it all
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing
