I am currently a full time mum and not in paid work. I claim working families tax credit but mainly live of my partners wages. Should I sign on? I heard something about National Insurance contributions being affected

JSA is for people who are actively seeking work, however, your entitlement can be affected if you are living off your husband's wages.0

You will be getting HRP if your name is on the CB claim which means that the years you have to pay towards your SP are reduced.0

You should get Home Responsibilities Protection automatically if you're getting either:- Child Benefit in your name for a child under the age of 16 and you have given the Child Benefit Office your National Insurance number
When working out your basic State Pension, the number of years you get Home Responsibilities Protection is taken away from the number of qualifying years needed to calculate your pension.
There are changes being made next year, though that does not relate to the present does it?0 -
Didn't intend to cause an argument!. As she is not retiring in the near future then my link is correct. HRP is being phased out & replaced with a more equitable system. But even though her contribution record should be adjusted automatically then she should check it out anyway. The link below should assist in doing so.
