can't find vinegar

After reading a few of the OS tips I decided it was time to buy some white vinegar. I poured over the shelves of my ASDA, looking at malted, extra malted, virgin malted, malteser malted etc. Could I find plain white vinegar? NO!

I plumped for stuff called "non brewed condiment" it contains water and vinegar, the majority being water. Will I just have to use more of it or should I look out for proper vinegar in another shop?

I really should have asked earlier as, if I hear it causes irrevocable damage, the 3 month old Smeg dishwasher I decided to try it on is now in the middle of it's cycle.

Try Chinese supermarkets. Wing Yip's in Manchester sell it in LARGE quantities. They also sell large quantities of Bicarbonate of soda - another OS must have

There are Wing Yips around England but not sure of Scotland - Sorry

Health food shops sell 5ltrs of distilled white vinegar - also, as exlibris points out, large bags of bicarb too.

It's the best way to stock up (for me) because then I can spend 20 mins making up the various solutions I need from them.
