What is the arrangement for using these at TESCO? Do you just present them at the checkout, or am I likely to have to negotiate their use?If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.0
-
Check at your tesco customers service before using. my small local (not an Express) refused last time round although they have accepted them in the past!0

It's Tesco policy to take them (any store, including Express). But many stores will argue.
As these coupons don't actually scan, this is even more of a problem. Some stores will not allow any non-scans under any circumstances, even though with these HO will say they are supposed to...
Don't expect this coupon to just sail thru at the till with other mocs, there WILL be a song and dance over it and you may well be refused. In which case get a refund at the CS desk or from Dundee (0800 505555).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

http://www.scotsman.com/saveonfares (note: lowercase, not uppercase as printed in paper)
EDIT: wendyjg100 has pointed out that after registration, you are directed to http://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com/scotsmanaugust to make the booking. You might like to try your luck booking there directly and not revealing the personal info the Scotsman ask for during registration.
NOTE: you MUST carry a printed voucher cut from Saturday's or today's Scotsman or yesterday's Scotland on Sunday when you use these tickets; they will be checked on the train. Today is your last chance to grab a newspaper with a voucher inside.
Glasgow to London or Edinburgh to London from £11.50; from Edinburgh to York from £8, Glasgow to Newcastle from £8 or Aberdeen to Edinburgh for just £6. First class fares also available.
 When can I book?
 * Bookings are now open and will close at midnight on 7 September 2009.
 * You must book at least 3 weeks in advance of outward travel.
 When can I travel?
 * Between 14 September and 13 November 2009.
 * Seats are available on off-peak train services with limited availability on Friday and Sunday afternoons. There will also be limited availability when major events are taking place.
 * The following dates are also excluded from the promotion: 23 October to 1 November 2009 inclusive.
 * Please note, engineering work taking place on some weekends during this promotion may affect your journey times. More information about disruption as a result of engineering work.
 What do I need?
 * To take advantage of this fantastic offer, please ensure you have collected the voucher from your newspaper. One voucher is required and needs to be taken with you on your journey, together with your travel tickets and reservations.
 * One voucher allows up to four people to travel together.
 How do I book?
 * All bookings using this offer must be made online.
 * To take advantage of the Reader Offer fare you must book 3 weeks in advance of your outward travel. Seats are subject to availability – and we are expecting the biggest demand at weekends – so please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

For example, you can select the reader offer fare on the outward journey and, if the return train of your choice is unavailable, you can select the best fares shown.
 * Railcard holders - please note that no other discounts apply. so make sure you compare the price of the cheapest ticket available with your Railcard to the Reader Offer fares.
How do I know if I have booked correctly?
 * After completing your booking you will receive a booking confirmation number on the final screen during the booking process – please make a note of this.
 * Following this, we send you an email confirmation.
 * If you do not receive either confirmation, your booking has not been completed.
 * Please try again and ensure you follow each step of the booking process as detailed on screen.
 * If you have any questions relating to the booking process, please call 08457 225 111.0

when I used one of these a few weeks ago at tesco dunstable, I went to the CS desk before doing my shopping to make sure they were taking them. Two members of staff said they had no idea so they called the supervisor who confirmed they accept them:D0

Looks like there has been quite a huge C0CK-UP by the Express.
I posted the same offer in the Cinema Tickets thread on Saturday when this was first published.

THE PICTUREHOUSE AND CURZON CINEMA CHAINS ARE NOT PARTICIPATING IN THIS OFFER!!!
I have spoken to very helpful people from both chains just minutes ago. Both confirmed that their cinema chains were asked to participate by expressonline, and declined. It seems that expressonline have published their apparent 'participation' anyway.
They may not be the only cinemas who are not participating so it would be worth checking first before wasting 70p on a copy of the Express.
Before you buy the Express, check that the cinema listed on the website is taking part in this offer.
I've just found out that, despite being listed, the Edinburgh Dominion isn't taking part in this offer.
I wanted to find out what was showing and the screening date.
I couldn't get through to the box office on the number listed and so I phoned the Dominion direct and ended up speaking to the manager, Mike.
It seems that the Express have "presumed" he was taking part even though he didn't accept their offer.

same prob here too...Complete bloomin joke this one. First saw it on Saturday and it had Picturehouse and Curzon on it, by teatime they had gone and now the "100 cinemas" is actually about 40 - most of which are community centres that show a film once a month.
Con job if you ask me - would have thought that a national newspaper was better than this.:mad:0
