Well I'm back from Prague and have some news...I'm engaged! That's right, le boyfriend popped the question after 4 and a half years. We've been talking about it, that we knew we'd get married one day, but I never thought he would do it now! There aren't any plans to get married yet, I think 2-3 years time is the time scale we're looking at. That's when we'll be able to buy a house (theoretically!) and le fianc! (can't get used to that!) will be debt free!
It was so romantic and just perfect: snowing on Charles Bridge in the middle of the night after an amazing evening! And the ring! I don't want to boast but it is perfect (and paid for mostly in cash!) and designed by le fianc! especially for me! I feel so special! SO now I have even more things to save for hehe!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

Congratulations ruby-eskimo on your engagement :T
The above quote is from last year, did you suspect anything this year?
I've read all your diary as I said I would and you've certainly had an up-and-down year.
Keep on with your debts, savings and diary and you'll get there in the end.

Well Kerfuffle, I kind of did suspect something. Every time we've gone to Prague he has said he would love to ask me to marry him but it just wasn't the right time because of other things going on in our lives. Well this year I went to stay with him a few weeks ago and asked if I could use his laptop while he was in the shower, he said yes and when I looked he had a youtube page open with Charles Bridge Proposals as the search item. I kind of talked myself out of the idea that he would do it because I didn't want to hope and then be bitterly disappointed when he didn't do it! Which I think made it even more of a shock when he did!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

So here we are, Happy New Year to you all! It's that time of year when I make my moneysaving resolutions for the year!
- Save for a car: I might change my total to £5000, we'll have to wait and see. This total includes car, tax, MOT and insurance for the first year. That way I have nothing to worry about for a year and the car is paid off completely!
- Complete 100 NSD's: This might be more difficult than I think but we shall see. It does not include transport costs or other things that are budgeted for and therefore necessities.
- Lose 35lbs: This is so I can look good in a wedding dress!
- Pass my driving test: This kind of goes along with getting a car really!
- Not go over my £240 Crazy Clothes Challenge limit: I figure that this will help keep me on target for FRUGAL YEAR
- Start saving for a house/wedding: Kind of says what it does on the tin really!
These are kind of a whole bunch of targets to help this year be a good year. Also this year is FRUGAL YEAR! I am planning on trying to not spend any money on unnecessary items. I basically looked at myself and saw that I save half of my wages every month but I have no idea where the rest of it goes! So here it is, I'm not buying anything unless I really need it! Oh and I am selling a lot of stuff, starting with a whole bunch of limited edition Lush items on the forum. Figuring I can make £100 out of it all really!
Lets hope 2011 is a really good year for everyone, I think a lot more people are optimistic!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 - Save for a car: I might change my total to £5000, we'll have to wait and see. Hello Roooobie! :wave:
Happy New Year! And well done on all your resolutions - they seem practical and attainable, which I think is important as there's nothing worse than setting yourself flabby resolutions which end up not being kept.
Good luck on not spending more than £240.00 on clothes, though - I'd struggle on that! Can you offset any excess with your Lush fund?!Please call me 'Pickle'

Well Pickle, I have more clothes than storage for them and I wear the same stuff all the time, so there really is no need for them!
Me and Le Fiance have decided to buy a new tv. Well I'm buying it for him as an engagement present because I want to get him something, but at the same time it will be one less thing to buy when we get our own place this time next year. Been looking around but he can't decide what he wants. Might have to wait for next years sales to get one!
Started my weight loss thing today, so far no chocolate or treats, and half an hour on the wii fit. Going to try for half an hour every day plus a run/jog/walk 3 times a week and we shall see what happens! If things don't work out I might have to hit the gym!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Sounds good, Miss Eskimo. *Makes big thumbs up sign* I'm trying to phase my resolutions in as it will be too easy to try to do them all at once, then stop doing them as I've overphased myself. Two days (but no temptation) in and it's been OK so far.Please call me 'Pickle'
