Yes I hear what you are saying, however, I know six ladies who are in a home now who pay every penny from the sale of their house, which they and their hubbys worked hard for all their lives, there are also folk in the home that do not pay, because for some reason or another, they have no ome to sell, if we ever get really stuck, as we are on a very low income, we shall sell to an insurance company, and do what we like with our money, regards oap0

Hi
The ladies who are in a home who pay their costs from the sale of their house - well, presumably they are in the home because they can't cope with living in their house any more? So why wouldn't they sell it to pay their costs? A house is often your biggest and most valuable asset. What are you going to do with it if you're living somewhere else?
The people who are not paying their own costs, presumably they didn't have anything like a house to sell, so what would become of them? There are no longer any workhouses for the poor, and if they can't live at home, they have to go somewhere.
In the very nature of things one of us will be left on his/her own, and we're saving because we don't know what the future may hold. We have spent a lot of time, money, thought and effort in making this bungalow as easy-care and convenient as possible for the future. However, if one of us is left here on his/her own and really can't cope, even with care and help coming in, then we see nothing wrong in selling up our main asset - our home - to give us some kind of choice in where we go. What would be the point of it sitting here empty, just deteriorating? No point at all.
