sky+hd for £15, free install and free subscription for 12 months!!(existing customer)

Hi,

My sky+ box genuinely broke down on me this morning - stuck on standby!!! Phoned sky to "troubleshoot" and sky came to conclusion that I needed an engineer out to "have a look" Cost = £65!!!! My other option was to take the sky+hd box for £49 and get free installation if I took the multiroom so that would cost me an extra £9.75 for multiroom and £9.75 for HD each month as well as forking out £49 for a new box......so !!!!ed off at that moment I said, No, not paying, would rather cancel and get a freeview box. Usual happened and got put through to cancellations and I think I must have sounded so !!!!ed off he said he was away to check with his manager what they could do for me (I know prob everyone gets that spiel!!)
He asked why I wasnt considering the new sky+hd box and I said the extra subscription each month was just too much to pay. He said sky prepared to "refund" my line rental each month of £11 (I have sky talk also) for the next 12 months and give me the box for £15!!!!! Was totally shocked.

I think they might just be offering this is you have your line rental with them but worth a go folks..........
On my way to well earned riches (I hope!) :T:T:T

You still have to pay the HD subscription of £9.75 each month right?

  • hi,

Yes, still paying the hd subscription of £9.75 but not paying my line rental of £11 for 12 months - as i said in my original post I do have my phone with sky also so maybe thats why I was offered this deal. But hey, still money off each month which is the bit I like and getting the hd for nowt

  • so did you still have to take the multi-room package to get this deal?
  • no. no multiroom subscription. Just £15 for the box and install

    Dear Happy,
I, like you, have been a good customer of Sky for many years and have my phone. broadband, sports etc and recently enquired about HD and received their offer of the box for £49 + £30 installation.

Following your post, I have just spent an hour talking to different departments trying to get the same offer as you but no luck! They will give me a free HD box and free installation which saves a good amount but they have 'no record' of the free monthly rental that you have been offered
So I said I will think about it for the moment, any idea how I can put any further pressure on them?

Call their bluff and cancel it. If you lose your bottle, just call up 2 or 3 days before it's due to be switched off and tell them you've changed your mind.
  • If you are a new sky customer you can get sky for £29 for hd box free line rental and then you just pay for hd so it is about £26 a month for phone tv and broadband.

I would contact them and say how it isnt really fair that new customers get the offer and you don't explain how you enjoy being with sky but times are hard and you would hate to have to cancel your subscription but after evaluating your finances something has got to give.

Most retail outlets that act as sky agents can put in all your info and arrange for sky to call you, that way you don't incur any call charge (if there is a call fee).
  • Spoke to cancellations yesterday but unfortunately I'm on contract with my broadband until December which I'd forgotton so the best I got was a 25% discount for 6 months. Better than nothing I suppose but I'm still after a deal on an HD box...

I was also told that if I move my BT line rental over to Sky and signed up to HD that I would get free line rental for 12 months, counteracting the Sky HD sub. Unfortuneatly have a few months left of BT contract.

Haven't managed to get through to the existing customers line yet to argue an HD deal as I keep getting stuck in a 10 minute plus queue. I'm determined not to pay £30 installation for the bloke to come around and plug a box in!

Just come off the phone to customer retentions , best they would do was £49 and free install ( I've got phone, tv and broadband with them ) so said I'd like to cancel but they still wouldn't budge.

Cancelled the cancelation before the end of the call so I could take time to think about the offer but I'll try again later.
