Moving on

It's been a while since my BR, and just having a secured a new job I'm looking to start saving for the future. Does anyone know any financial institutions that will allow ex bankrupts to save? It seems they all do credit checks for savings accounts and ISA's???

A few of us on here have opened an on line savings account at The Yorkshire Bank, and had no problems. You even get a card to draw your money out. :D

  • i can never understand why banks have an issue with giving an ex BR a savings account??

I mean your not asking for money, you want to give them your OWN money to look after:rolleyes: , you wont have DD's or an overdraft, its just going to sit there increasing every month.

Anyway... i have one with Barclays that i put £20 a month in to, they had no issue with the BR thing

Thant's good to know wxmlad, thanks.
  • Yorkshire Building Society and Abbey both allow BRs to open savings accounts. The Co-op will also allow BRs to open an ISA savings account but not a regular savings account bizarrely. I would opt for Yorkshire Building Society as it comes with a cash machine card, to be used for free in any LINK machine, can be operated online and has a relatively high (these days) rate of interest.

    Thanks for the tips.
I found out today that NS & I will do both savings and ISA's without a credit check if you're on the electoral roll.

    Yorkshire sounds good!
