Hi guys,
I have been turned down for a mortgage today with natwest, i met affordability wise i could have 144000 and i only wanted 80000, It said adverse data is the reason for the decline, i looked at my credit file and i have a default with o2 from about 3 years ago, i thought it should say settled or satisfactory under current balance but it still says £286. I have not been chased for this money so didnt realise it was outstanding, i called o2 and paid this balance in full and o2 are writing to me to confirm that i owe them nothing. Is there a possibility i could be accepted for the mortgage now. The default will be there but it will say settled or satisfactory, thanks Nathan

I would be surprised if the only reason that NatWest turned you down was a small default with a mobile phone company, was there anything else showing on the credit file? Have you spoken to NatWest for further clarification, check there position on the now settled default that you knew nothing about?I am a Mortgage Adviser

I note that you state in previous posts that you have other defaults, so how many in total show on your credit file as it would appear that it isn't as straight forward as one default with O2? What exactly is showing on the credit file.I am a Mortgage Adviser
