Is This Legal?

Hi

I live with my parents, and a debt of mine has written to my step dad (the home owner) about how they can get in touch with me about my debt.

Is that legal? My step dad does not want the worry, and i feel they shouldnt of written to him.

Thanks

Matt

I think actually they are entitled to try and track you down so long as they don't reveal information to anyone about your position. This was mentioned not so long ago when a DCA contacted the neighbours of a lady saying that she owed money and her neighbours left a note on her door or something. That was obviously crossing the line, but if it's just a general enquiry to your whereabouts it's probably quite legal TBH.

    What does the letter say?

yes they can ask if you live there but not divulge your busines, contact them and make a payment offer you can afford ,send it to them and up it when you can afford it, they should leave you alone then if there not happy with that tell them you will see them in court
