chemical peel/microdermabrasion

Has anyone had this done and is it worth it? I have tried the home chemical peel kits which didn't really do anything but my face is starting to look quite dull and crepey with large pores around my nose/mouth/chin. The crepiness shows even more after losing weight recently. I am going to a special do in a few weeks and my skin really needs a 'pick me up'. I am looking at going for a professional treatment but not sure which one to go for or how it will look afterwards.

If you had a proper chemical peel you would be out of action for a couple of weeks! This is because the top layer of skin is removed with the chemical. Are you sure this is what you mean??? Home treatments are nothing like this. The only thing that I would suggest is something from the Dermalogica range. Look at https://www.obagi.com , this is good but you would need to find a consultant in the UK.0

The surgical strength chemical peels are so very harsh - and ^ as above, take at least a couple of weeks to recover from. Are you sure that this is the course of action you want to take?
Beauty salons can offer may rejuvenating treatments (OK, usually a course but there are some that certainly have a an instant effect that is built on with subsequent treatments) such as Crystal Clear or intensive Vitamin C and/or Collagen facials (some specaially for mature skin if that's what you need
).
I don't doubt that also the Oil Cleansing Method will be advocated on here for your enlarged pores.
Just my 10p worth [for what it's worth]

I don't want one of those scary treatments where the top layer of skin peels off over several days  (I am an avid watcher of all the cosmetic surgery programmes!) - I was just looking at the peels where they say there is no 'down time'. My local beauty salon offers a collagen facial together with a chemical peel for £35 including neck, shoulder, hand and arm massage and I like the sound of the collagen part but not sure on the peel.0

I have the microdermabrasion once or twice a year just to freshen up the skin. It is non invasive and will remove the dead cells from the surface and allow the fresh skin underneath to glow. You will need to moisturise very fully for a few days but it is worth it.Mags - who loves shopping0

I think that you will find that this will be a very mild peel; only slightly stronger than readily available ones. Esp. if it is only costing £35 and that includes the Collagen facial. I suppose the peel will enable the Collagen to penetrate more fully and effectively. I doubt very much that it will do harm BUT if you have sensitivities be very careful as a flare-up (temporary) may result.
Not to plug or anything but No7 do a peel kit which is very very good - use 2-3 times a week and effects are very evident. Another one is a Philosophy product - the Oxygen peel. It is fabulous. I bought it mail order from Selfridges but probably House of Fraser etc, stock it, I'm not sure (I still use the No 7 which does the job for me). If you check out the Philosophy website/peels/oxygen - there are many reviews from people with your skin "problems". The site is a dotcom though so I think purchasing will add ££'s to the cost (if they ship to UK).
