Solid shower gel - save £££s!

We recently ran out of shower gel, but rummaging at the back of the cupboard I found something I can best describe as solid shower gel. It works really well, and it seems to last for loads of showers. Remarkably, it only cost a few pence.
What you do is you hold this solid shower gel in your hand and rub it all over yourself. It cleans just as well as the proper liquid variety, and it smells quite nice too. It's a brilliant invention and a definite money-saver.
Unfortunately, I threw away the packaging and I can't remember the brand name. Can anyone help me out with what I should order next time I am online?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Believe it or not we still use this strange substance - I believe you can still buy it in sueprmarkets! Onlyl problem is chasing it around in the shower - still, need the exercise anyway!
Thanks for the laugh OP!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I personally prefer shower gel, simply because I find it's much less messy than soap. I hate cleaning out mucky soap dishes or scrubbing it off where-ever someone's left it in the shower or on the side of the sink. I also find that a lot of soap gets wasted because the bottom tends to go all slimy, or the bar starts to look revolting when someone's used it for washing really dirty hands, or the end of the bar gets thrown away because it doesn't smell nice anymore. It's probably not as cheap to use shower gel (although I do only buy it when it's on offer) but I think it can be just as economical in a different way - I only use what I need to use, none of it is wasted because it's all stuck to the shower, I can use it right down to the last drop and I only use a little because I use one of those shower 'puff' thingies which makes a litte go a long way.0

We stopped buying shower gel recently as we were going through atleast 3 bottles a week between us .
Hubby exclaimed one morning that we needed to do a wilko shop as we were out of shower gel ,so I informed him we didnt buy it any more..
He looked at me puzzled ,you could hear the cogs grinding to a halt:rotfl:
I had to explain to him that soap works just as well and available for only a few pence a bar !
He thought for a while ,then answered 'but what about my hair ,how can I wash my hair ?! ' ( if you ever saw my husbands hair ,or rather lack of ,you would wonder how I didnt wet myself at this point )
'Erm ...shampoo ,like me ' I dont think he realised shampoo was suitable for 'man hair':rotfl:0 -
This is the best thread I have read all year! Thanks for the laugh OP. I think I'm gonna go back to using soap after spending £13 on a bottle of showergel that lasted less than a month! There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0

I used to use this strange item many years ago. I bought some for old times sake a couple of months ago and remembered why i gave it up as a bad job...... it went all mushy in the bath and made a mess on the bathroom sink :-(This is a system account and does not represent a real person. LOL op.
Soap has its uses and advantages (one being less packaging!) but showergel tends to be less messy, and if you are careful, can last a long time. Using a body puff (the net things) can make showergel go farther too.
