purchasing BI

Hello All,

just got a letter stating I could buy the BI in my house for £1 + £460 which is to be paid to the OR's solicitors.. (I didn't realise it was going to be this much, I thought the OR's solicitors fees would be around £250)..

Also, I have to find a solicitor of my own to act on my behalf, can anyone recommend a cheap/reliable solicitor I can engage to act for me - if you are allowed to do this on here (not sure)...

Also, will there be a problem in sending the OR a cheque written out by my father (I don't have this sort of money)?

Thanks,,

I presume it is solely owned, the £211 is for jointly owned properties, it is more for solely owned properties. many people on here fill in the paperwork themselves without a solicitor, whether you should get one depends on how confident you are in these matters

it is absolutly fine for your father to send a cheque

Hi we have just purchased our BI we both went BR in Nov for £211 sols costs and £1 each, you do not have to have your own sols this is upto you what they are saying is they are acting for OR so cann't advise you we didn't have our own sols my friend is a conveyancing sol so just ran the form by her to double check what I was signing. A cheq from your father is fine just make sure you put you ref number on it hope this helps

    Thanks for your replies...

    Yes, it is sole ownership.

    What forms are they?

Will I get sent them from the OR's solicitors - is there a link to them so I can have a look and then I will know if I am capable of filling them in.. I would rather do it myself as really do not have the spare cash available..

is there anyone who can tell me if they have done this themselves and how difficult/complicated the forms were?
