Marie Claire Magazine Subscription

Just wanted to warn anyone who signs up for the £19.99 offer to receive the free liz earl set. I sent my cheque off weeks ago and today get a letter saying they have reached the limit of gift stock but hoped i would enjoy my subscription, no alternative gift was offered, feel a bit cheated as i sent the cheque off the day the new mag and offer came out, the month before was a different offer, noticed they cashed the cheque within a few days but take a couple of weeks to write to me. I have sent off a letter asking to cancel and issue a refund, but i expect they will ignore it. Says to cancel in writing within 8 days of the dated letter, letter dated 18th, arrived 22nd, sending my reply today 22nd.....will it get there in time.....

im sure it says on the subcription page that the subscription gifts are subject to availability. might of been quicker if you ordered online.

it did say that, but i thought i'd got in there early, and assumed they would send an alternative gift. You had to fill out the form and post it for the gift offer as i tried to do it online.

I will say it was the paying by cheque. They will wait until it has cleared before confirming subscription. They ususally have a bit to put your DD or DC numbers which would have made it quicker.

    Hi!

I ordered this subscription over the phone purely for the free gift, the guy told me I would receive the confirmation of subscription letter and gift in the post within 28 days but surprise surprise my letter said the same about all stock being gone so no gift.

I think its a bit of a con, despite being in the smallprint, the person I spoke to never mentioned I might not get it so a bit misleading, its a good price for subscription but I wouldn't have bothered without the gift.

Has anyone actually received the freebie?!

    Hi!

I think something like this should be be saying, " first 1,000 subscribers receive a free gift" I wonder how this sits with trading standards?

I have just bought this months Marie Claire and there is another subscription offer on page 152, 12 issues for £19.99 with a freebie of £38 Liz Earle products, however it clearly says offer limited to the first 500 subscribers.

There was a leaflet for the Marie Claire offer also included with the mag, which I have unfortunately chucked. The wording of the offer on the leaflet was different to the ad in the mag though. It stated 6 copies delivered for £6, plus the Liz Earle gift. This caught my eye, however the very small print on the leaflet added that you needed to continue the subscription for a further 6 months at a higher price per issue.....so less of a bargain and I chucked the leaflet.

I'm wondering now if there was any specific indication the Liz Earle offer was thus limited on the leaflet? Anyone else seen it and can check?

    Hi all!

To give you some hope I phoned to complain about the Marie Claire subscription this morning and despite it saying you have to write to cancel within 8 days of the letter the lady I spoke to said she would cancel and refund straight away.

I know its not as good as actually receiving the gift (I'd be interested to hear if anyone has received one?) at least you should be able to get your money back, it sounds like they've had a few complaints as she didn't argue at all I just asked for refund and was told no problem :)

I decided to phone today, even though my letter is in the post and straight the lady said i could have a refund no problem, and said usually there is never a problem with the free gifts.

It sounds a bit iffy to me that no one has said they've received the gift.
