Hi
my ex is going to delcare himself bankrupt
he wants to hand back keys to his house and rent somewhere for a "fresh" start...
can he just hand the keys back? will he still be liable for any arrears?
what about gettting rid of his car prior to bankruptcy? how do they know car is his and not someone elses and loaned to him?
thanks in advance.

the shortfall on the property will fall into the bankruptcy when it is sold, if their is another owner they will be liable for the debt unless they are bankrupt as well.
The OR has access to the DVLA records to see who is or ever has been the registered keeper. they can also request bank statements to see who bought a vehicle or any other records where appropriateHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

As far as the house is concerned your OH must make sure he does not sign any paperwork agreeing to be liable for any shortfall.
