How to eat less?

Just bookmarking this thread-I need to cut out the appetite inducing carbs.:D0

I have got a Good housekeeping cookery book, for normal G.I. recipes (I got it out of the library first,to try it and there are some great recipes) but it says watermelon is high gi value,so you would have to restrict it? I am trying to go on this gi diet from memory though, from when i used it last. I have got written down that you can have so many carbs (seven portions ) and so many protein, fruit and veg,fat and one other group I forget!! Can anyone point me back in the direction of a diet like this so i can check i am doing it right?0

Try the South Beach Diet (google it) - you will eat healthily, you will never feel hungry and it will completely change your eating habits.
Thanks fr your reply ayamjay. I will check it out.
Sorry I've been away for a bit, just feeling down and trying to work out how to change my eating habits. I havent come up with any answers tbh, but I bought two diet books today (Dr Perricone and can't remember the name of the other one) in Bargain Books for 99p each - very MSE! So is nothing else, reading them will at least keep me busy for the next few nights!
I am still eating too much rubbish, it is pathetic really. I feel ashmed coming on here and asking you lovely peeps for help and then not making any progress whatsoever. I feel like I'm letting you down (and myself).0 -
I totally identify with the craving thats not a craving. that is certainly for me a carb demand. Again im loooking at this and seeing the bread- and the croissant. I suggest that if you cut these alone out you will have less demand. Instead of toat if you are hungry, go for muesli. You soon notice if you are not really hungry for food after the first mouthfull or so
Thanks for your post lynzpower.
Yes, it is definitely carbs that are my downfall, sugar especially.
I might try that muesli suggestion, and you are probably right - I will only eat it if I'm genuinely hungry! I should buy lots of filling but low cal food which will not tempt me to eat except when I#'m actually hungry. So simple in theory...0 -

I actually reckon that watermelon could not possibly be bad or fattening in any way (and I love it). What counts as 7 portions of carbs?

Tried for myself:,
Drink a glass of water first in the morning and before eat something.
Take Chromium, the cheapest at Zipvit.co.uk. really put me away of sweets.
I tried also half lemon with water but is good, I do no know why, make me feels lighter.
Good luck0 -
The best suplement to cut on sweets is chromium, you buy cheap, in Holland and Barret or Zipvit.uk0

vivamartin, I've had chromium recommended to me as well, do you rate it?
OP, do you like dark chocolate, the really good 70%+ stuff? Could you try a bit of that if you want a chocolate fix? I've tried it and it actually seems to work (I am trying to shift a stubborn few lbs at the mo too). Peppermint tea is also a good thing, very cleansing. If I want sweet I use a sweetex in it.
I do drink a lot of diet drinks as well, if I fancy something sweet, then sometimes a Diet fanta or coke will quell the cravings.
Another one is- if you want potatoes- choose new pots, they appear to have lessnet carbs than normal pots. ( ie you can have double the amount on cambridge) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
