  • Back again! Got home about 7.00pm with my lovely new car and minus one husband (and minus a lot of money!) No........I didnt leave him at the garage (although I was tempted), he had a meeting to go to, so I dropped him off on the way home!

When I got home, the postie had delivered a bill for £95 from NEXT Directory for some stuff I'd already forgotten I'd ordered. That is absolutely it now, there are no more surprises! I'm so fed up of only getting bills through the post.........doesn't anyone send letters anymore?

On the plus side, I've just made 160 lightspeed points by completing two surveys. I already have one £25 gift card from Argos I've earned through them but it took ages!

My dad had more treatment in hospital today as an outpatient. I called with them on my way home to show off my new car and he really looked awful and was in lots of pain. Its really hitting home this week that they're getting old, and that's not a nice feeling.

Tomorrow, I have to take my mum to do the supermarket shop in the morning.........and afterwards, I'm going to list at least 6 things on Ebay. I'm also going to have to pop into work and try to get someone to cover my shift on Monday as dad has to go back to hospital for a checkup. I'm sure it will be fine..... I'm lucky to work with some great people.

I have to go and pick up the OH now..........but I may be back later with another update.....possibly with a glass of wine!

  • Good Evening everybody!

Tried really had to have a no spend day today, but didn't quite manage it. I had to take mum to do her big weekly shop this afternoon, and even though I didn't really need anything, I ended up spending £16. I think it was money well spent though as I had two large packs of chicken thighs for £5, and a box of Daz for £3.97.........oh yes, and some reduced foods just on their sell by dates that I've put in the freezer.

I don't know if anyone can help.........I keep seeing these ads on TV where you can sell any broken or unwanted gold jewellery........does anyone have any experience of these firms or know who gives the best deals?

I haven't managed to put anything on ebay yet.........I seem to have been really busy all day, but don't have anything to show for it!

  • Hi hun - sounds like you've had quite a few days of it - hope your parents are going to be ok. I haven't used any of the gold companies but there was a 'money expert' on BBC this morning and he recommended that people should use the shops that buy gold rather than the postal ones. That way you can get a few quotes before you actually hand over your gold. Might be worth looking in your yellow pages to see if there are any in your area.

  • Thanks for the info toolittletime. I've also seen some info on this on the GMTV website. I've got a few bits of broken jewellery, so I might as well try and get something for them.

My parents are a lot better thanks..........just have to take my dad for a checkup tomorrow. I'm lucky that the people I work with are willing to swap shifts, mind you I'd do the same for them too....its good to have some give and take!

I've spent most of today listing stuff on ebay to take advantage of the free listing. I went through all my clothes and found so many impulse buys that I know I'll never wear......its no wonder I've managed to build up so much debt!

I really thought I'd had my LBM when I started this diary, but I think my real LBM came this today when I listed all these clothes, that still have their labels attached!

Oh yes...........I made some cakes today.........I had some cornflakes in the cupboard that no one ever eats.....so I made some cornflake cakes..........and I've set myself another target - I'm going to try and lose a stone before my birthday next month.........probably not a realistic target.......but I'll still try!! (I probably shouldn't make any more cornflake cakes !).

I have to try and make some time to exercise, I live in the country so there's no excuse not to go for walks...........I just have an OH who only likes walks that end at the pub!
