Golf games have one the following methods to control the shots
1) 3 clicks
2) moving the analogue stick up and down
3) using a separate device to actually track the movement of your hands
All 3 control systems have pros and cons.
Personally, I prefer the 3 click method and the best golf game by far is Everybody's Golf 5 - the absolute king of PS2 golf games using the 3 click method.
Tiger Woods uses method 2 and Real World Golf uses 3.0 -
Any of the Tiger Woods games (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006) are great, there isn't a HUGE amount of difference between them all, so if you can get an older one for less, he should enjoy it just as much.
Bear in mind that a round of golf can take anything up to an hour (or longer if theres more than one player), so if your waiting for Eastenders to start, their may be arguments!0
