New poster here so I hope it is in the right place. If not I'm sorry mods.
Comet have reduced the price of the Sagem Axium HD-D50H DLP television by £600. This is a real bargain for a great set. The cheapest I could find one anywhere else was £1395. If you follow the link to the website http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/650_262064.html it gives a price of £999 plus £16.95 delivery. However, on the Comet home page it states free deliver on HD TVs. Give them a call and they will knock the delivery charge off.
Good luck everyone

isn't this a bit of an oxymoron?
HD Tv on a rear-projection?
I thought HD was crystal clear pictures - you are never going to get that on rear projection are you?
(sorry ... i should add that I am not knocking the bargain discovery, it does look cheap ... just the concept!)0 -

These rear projection TV's are a lot better than the original ones. They use a technology called Digital Light Processing (DLP) to give a fantastic picture when it is fed with a HD source. Next time you are near a Comet, nip in and have a look. They are great. Luckily for me, I was about to order one for £1395 from Web Electricals yesterday when I saw a post on avforums.com about the Comet price crash. :j :j :j0 -
That's a very good price indeed - I looked at the HD-D45H a few months ago and decided that Costco were cheapest at £1149.99 plus VAT (£1351.23), so for the 50" this is an excellent saving.
The picture quality blew me away to be honest, they have them next to the usual LCD and Plasma offerings and the Sagem was fantastic. It was running from a Sagem demo box in HD so the results were obviously optimised but it impressed me.
The only negative comments I found with with the rear projection TVs (other that size, which is a lot smaller than they used to be) were that the fans can be noisy and the cabinets sometimes vibrate a little. This seemed to vary a lot though, some people reported issues, some didn't.
Sadly I've spent the money I put to one side for the TV elsewhere now but at this price I might drag it out again.....
Quick Edit: The Costco one included the stand0 -
Comet one doesn't include a stand, freemans has a sony wega 50 inch which after the 30% off would be down to £9800
-
Sony centre has been doing the Sony 50" for £999 over Easter I read - if anyone is going for the Sagem one, read up on "rainbows" (e.g. on avforums) and make sure they're not an issue for you or anyone else regularly using the set. The Sony is LCD not DLP based so doesn't suffer from these.
I've got the Sony 50" and very very happy with it!0 -
How do you get 30% off at Freemans please?0
-
They give a 30% discount for new customers, you should see it on their main pageThanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
