Tax Refunds

Options
Hi Guys,
I wanted to know if I am eligible to get tax refunds? I started work in November 2007 & am still working in the same company. How do I go about the procedure to get tax refunds (if at all). Are there any reliable & safe organizations that would assist me & simplify the process?
Cheers

Depends on your earnings and tax code.

A refund is unlikely if this is your sole job and is taxed under PAYE.

You need to work out if you are due a rebate.

What makes you think you might?

    HMRC.

I earn between £20000-25000 per year & am hired as a contractor, paid weekly. My tax code is 647L.

As this is the normal tax code it is extremely unlikely you would be due any refund.
  • If you do leave your job, make sure you get your employer to give you a P45 You'll need it to claim tax back, providing you haven't worked the full tax year, (April to April).

Chances are the only things that you may be able to claim a refund on are your work expenses such as professional/trade subscriptions, travel, mileage etc.
