    Hi,

Have you tried a shoe tree? They go into your shoes and should stretch it out.
I did this on a pair of shoes, but I am not sure how or if it will work on canvas as mine were black suede. Slighlty damp pieces of balled up newspapers. My mum swore by it for shoes that were too small. I had to keep the paper in there and just keep jamming it up until eventually the shoes did loosen enough for me to wear them.
Again, I am not sure if the print would rub onto the canvase but I suppose any paper will do.
I usually wear shoes with a really thick pair of socks on around the house if I need to stretch them a bit and that usually does the trick.

When you say that they hurt your heel, is it because they are rubbing your heel and creating a blister?

If so, then this technique works for leather. It might therefore work on canvas: get a wooden spoon and vigorously rub the heel of your shoe with it. Really work it all over the heel area, press very hard. For some reason, it soften leather and might work on canvas.

Another thing to try in addition to the newspaper, shoe tree ideas is to wash them in the washing machine. Be careful that you don't put them on too hot a wash. Washing them might soften the canvas.
