Anarchy Online Free game & 1 years Subscriptio

i'm new to this so here goes,

If you go to the official Anarchy Online website (Huge online Role playing game) they have a promotion on where you can download the Anarchy Online game totally free and when you register there you get a free years subscription to play the game online (There is normally a monthly charge to play it online). Thing is you have to register before January 15th 2005. I believe its some kind of test they are doing to see if their servers can handle high numbers of people for future games they have planned.

This game has been around for ages. My brother used to play it all the time. If I was being sceptical, I'd say it was because players are turning to newer games that are coming out and leaving AO in droves.

Although they won't get any money from newcommers that are getting it for free, these games are only any good if lots of players are online and playing at the same time. So current paying customers are less likely to leave if the number of players stay high and they have plenty of online interaction.

Not that I'm a sceptical person of course.

I expect you are right. Anyway, be aware that it's a 816MB download.

So far I have downloaded 600MB from their German mirror. As I don't use a download manager, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it finishes okay. I tried BitTorrent, but it was more of a trickle, really, and it dried up altogether after 300MB.
