Anyone used the Debt Management with the CCCS?

Hi, has anyone got any experience of the debt management service offered by the CCCS?
As I am in serious debt the only problem I can see it causing is to my credit rating which will already be in a bad state due to the problems I've had in the past, but it would be great if anyone has any experience of this service before I decided whether to commit to it.
Cheers.

Hi ElyzaB,please don't dismiss the CCCS,they do a wonderful job for many people on here, people have different experiences about ALL the different bodies offering help,a lot depends on your circumstances ie.how much debt and how much income.I don't personaly have any experience of them because I'm with Payplan, but give them a go,but remeber to be 100% honest with all debts and outgoings, don't keep anything back, they will find out!
    Good Luck

  • Hi we have just gone into a DMP with the CCCS we owe 40k and thought we would have to go bankrupt, lose our house and all was doom and gloom. They are so helpful and have totally put our minds at ease.

They work out what your everyday outgoings are including mortgage, utilities, council tax, entertain, prescriptions, food, pets, newspapers, travel just about anything and everything you could think of they have it listed. They then add up all that and whatever is left is what you pay to the CCCS who then distribute it amongst your creditors.

Its not going to be easy to stick to a budget having been used to having credit cards in the past to fall back on, but then again its the credit cards that have caused the problems for one reason or another.

I am left with £98 per week for housekeeping - 2 adults, 2 children, 2 dogs and now find when I go round the supermarket instead of grabbing things I look at the best price, best offers and it does help.

We are very nervous about how we will keep to our budget but as we dont want to lose our house we have no choice.

I had to ring the CCCS yesterday and they are just so calm and relaxed and put your mind at rest, they are so there to help you I wouldnt hesitate in recommending them.

    Good luck
  • Thanks for the replies. It's nice to know other people are going through it.
I think I will go for the DMP and see what creditors do/don't go for it. It seems like a workable solution.
Again, thanks to everyone that posted.
