What does suspension mean and why?
It usually means that the OR/Trustee has uncovered 'anominalies' during their investigation of the bankrupt's affairs. If such 'anominalies' are considered to be serious, or even fraudulent, then the OR has the right to 'suspend' discharge, pending further investigation. Depending on the results of any such 'further investigation' the OR can either increase the duration of the 'bankruptcy period' by imposing a Bankruptcy Restriction Order/Undertaking (BRO/BRU) or, if 'criminal activities' are suspected, refer the matter to the Criminal Court.
Of course we don't know that this is what has happened in Kerry's case, and we should resist the temptation to 'pre-judge'.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Suspension of discharge is normally due to non-cooperation with the OR. Discharge is suspended until such time as the BR cooperates, allowing the OR to finish investigating their affairs.Where a bankrupt has failed or is failing to comply with the obligations imposed on him/her by the Act or Rules, particularly where there are any circumstances of non-attendance, obstruction, misinformation failure to provide required information, delay or other serious misbehaviour on the part of the bankrupt, the official receiver or trustee should consider applying to the court for the running of the automatic discharge period to be suspended, thus extending the date of discharge beyond the normal period, pending the bankrupt’s full co-operation.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

£80k was the HMRC debt who petitoned for BR. You have to pay all unsecured debt to get an annullment.
Most common reason for Suspension of Discharge is failure to co-operate.0 -

Almost the same as mine.
I got early discharge - less than six months - though.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
