Recommendations for smudge proof mascara

Hi everyone, i've been using max factor 2000 calories mascara for year and liked it, and usually i put a coat aqua lash waterproof mascara over the top . but in the last few weeks i've been getting serious "panda" eyes:confused: after a couple of hours. As a mum of two small kids i look tired at the best of times

So i'd like to switch to another, but dont want to waste loads of money trying lots of expensive brands so any recommendations please.

I dont mind buying a mid range or even a top brand as long as its recommended.

many thanks.

I don't think that there is any such thing- I have yet to try a mascara that doesn't smudge on me.

I now cheat and dye my eyelashes so I can get by with the absolute minimum of mascara. Most of the time I don't bother with it

Mascara smudging is often to do with your own skin, oiliness, moisture in eyes etc so maybe you have had a change there, some good ones I've found are in the budget range Collection 2000, they do a waterproof one and a long lasting one both are good, mid range would be sexy curves by Rimmel and premium brand would be Estee Lauder Magnascopic or Estee Lauder Double Wear, this last one doesn't give much volume though. I believe Clarins do a very effective top coat as do Benefit (she laq), I'm not keen on the Benefit one I find it a bit too hardening and although I haven't tried the Clarins one my friend uses it and swears by it. Following on from the previous post have you thought about doing your own lash extensions? Fiddly at first but once you've got the knack you wont need any mascara and they last at least a week (on me anyway) and a pack which lasts me about a month to six weeks costs about £6 - hth:)

I've been using L'Oreal for years. I really loved their Longitude one, then it was changed to something else (can't remember the name) and now I use Telescopic and none of them smudge on me!

Will echo that smudging often relates to your own eyelid shape/oiliness. I use a primer on my eyes to help my eyeshadow and eyeliner stick - and I think that also helps stop the mascara bit shifting...
  • When I apply concealer under my eyes I also dab a little on my upper lids, pat it in with my finger, and then dust with a little loose powder (I wear loose powder on my face anyway) By doing this I find my makeup stays put all day from 7.30am to 11.00pm+ without shifting :)

pinkparrott - my all time fave mascara is (I swear) 2True, it's £1.95 or 3 for £5 at Superdrug!!! It is the first mascara that has not smudged on me and it's cheap as chips!!!! And you can it in black, navy, purple, blue, brown, clear and waterproof! Fill yer boots!

    :D

I must get Which? to test it and then it'll be the hot new cult mascara (actually, maybe not - they might put the price up). :rotfl:

p.s. I agree with the eye cream comments, don't apply it right under your lashes.

Oooh, would powder around the eye area not be a bit drying? My peepers would be in pain!

My favourite no-smudge mascara is L'oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes. I actually put this on and then leave it for 3 days before washing it off! You have to soak your eyelashes in warm water to pull it off, and it comes off in bits (or 'tubes' I suppose) rather than in smudges. You may get tiny black dots round your eyes if you rub them, but you definitely won't get panda eyes.
It's pricey enough at £8ish and as it has a base coat/top coat thing for the 'tubes' to work it can be a tiny bit of a faff as well, but I love it.

I might try this next time I need a mascara it sounds very much like the Blinc one.

  • Ever heard of Blinc mascara?! Google it- you will be amazed. It really is incredible and you can buy a tester to start with for £2.50, just to try it out. I cried my eyes out at my dads wedding and it was amazing.
