Tax and National Insurance Worries

Options
I've recently received my payslip off an agency I did a few days work for and have noticed they have got my National Insurance number wrong, even though I provided them with my P45 with my correct National Insurance number on.

How does this affect my tax and NI?

I have sent an email to the agency querying this as they have also taxed me on Basic Rate even though they had my P45 long before I completed an assignment for them.

At the moment it is a problem as HMRC will not learn of your personal tax and NI deductions until after the Agency/Employer completes the PAYE annual return in April 2010.

You have done the right thing in informing them of the error. It appears they have not applied the information correctly. The tax will right itself (in the amount they deduct) when they enter your P45 details.

At the year end they will inform HMRC of the deductions made from you and as long as they have the correct NI number by then all will be ok.
