Change names on mortgage and deeds

Options
hello all,

I hope someone out there can offer me some advice. My current partner is in the midst of a divorce and wants the husbands name taken off the deeds and the mortgage and mine adding to them. This is because the bank wont let her have the mortgage in just her name as she doesnt earn enough and so adding me to the mortgage is the only way to do this. The soon to be ex-husband has agreed to this as has the bank and have advised we get a solicitor. the solicitor has quoted £440 to carry out this process. This seems a bit steep to me or is this the going rate?

Any help much appreciated

Is that price purely for the transfer of equity paperwork or are they doing something else as well? If just the transfer of equity seems a little on the high side, shop around and see what else you get quoted.
